For several years our firm has worked closely with Mia's husband Stuart and he is a respected colleague who has become a good friend. Stuart is a dedicated marine biologist who has supported many people throughout the world and in the Pacific to undertake sustainable fisheries management and the protection of valuable marine resources. Stuart has been passionate about, and dedicated his life to, empowering communities to look after, manage and benefit from their marine resources.

For more details about the tragic incident and for an article that Stuart was consulted on please see this article on the Guardian

The Guardian Article references links to a fundraising campaign and funds from this will go to a fund in the UK to provide for Stuart and Mia's 3 children's education.

Our firm is supporting this fundraising campaign not just because we know Stuart and his work but also because we stand with Mia. We admire Mia for her work in difficult circumstances, what she believed in and for the stand that she took and the way she chose to live her life.
