Atu Siwatibau graduated from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, with a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Economics and Business Administration) and an LLB (majoring in Commercial Law). He was admitted to the New Zealand Bar in 1996 in New Zealand and practiced for seven years in an Auckland CBD commercial law firm in the field of Mergers and Acquisitions and Intellectual Property. He then came to Fiji and practiced for two years in a commercial firm in the fields of General Commercial, Corporate and Intellectual Property.
On 1 June 2005 Atu entered into partnership with James Sloan and provides commercial advice, particularly in the areas of energy, telecommunications, construction and Intellectual Property law. Atu has been engaged in some major construction work that has involved multinational entities and has included some of Fiji’s largest ongoing infrastructure projects. Atu is also the first point of contact in the firm for anyone interested in commencing a business venture in Fiji. Atu provides practical, timely and to the point advice that saves clients money and headaches in the long run. Atu’s guiding principle is that in a commercial context, late advice is no advice.
